The MassMutual Center in downtown Springfield came alive on Oct. 11, as the Western Mass. Business Expo 2012 put the region’s business community on center stage. More than 2,000 visitors turned out during an event-filled day that featured 140 exhibitors, dozens of educational seminars and Show Floor Theater presentations, co-located events, thought-provoking breakfast and lunch programs, and a day-capping Expo Social, a premier networking event. The 2012 Expo Kickoff Breakfast

Keynote Speaker: Richard Freeland
The Expo’s breakfast program, coordinated by the ACCGS and sponsored by the Regional Employment Board of Hampden County, featured a keynote address from Richard Freeland, commissioner of the Mass. Department of Higher Education, focused on the recent report “Time to Lead: The Need for Excellence in Public Higher Education.” It was followed by a panel discussion that included Robert Pura, president of Greenfield Community College, and Peter Blain, manager of the Baystate-Springfield Educational Partnership, and Nick Fyntrilakis, vice president of Community Responsibility for MassMutual.
